Hague Linker and Knitmaster 321

Yay!! My Hague linker has finally arrived. I had to adjust the looper but got it working first time. Goodbye hand sewing!!!! Ive been reading apparently you can have hand operated models converted to electric - hmmm one to consider.

I also received the Knitmaster 321 last week and spent a whole evening servicing it and "sorting it out" so that it was useable. It was filthy, and I couldnt move the carriage across, however having scrubbed the needlebed and back rail, cleaning each needle, and replacing the sponge bar, it works as good as my Knitmaster 700. Im impressed with the tool kit - the only thing missing was the latch tool, but Ive got plenty of those.

Here are some photos I took:

It's a quick turn around though, as I've already sold the machine onto a friend. I had been keeping an eye out for a machine for her for a while, and when this one came up I went for it. She has been using a Knitmaster 4500 for a few months, but I think the 321 will be better for her as she finds the casting on a bit fiddly with the 4500. Plus she will have the versatilty of the punchcard.

Looks like my new "Diploma" will be put into practice in the next few weeks teaching her how to use this one.

Should be fun!

Nearly finished the blue linen waistcoat - just got the front bands to sort and then seams. Will upload a photo when its complete.

Hope everyone is having fun knitting!

Talk soon

Phil

  2. LMK how you get along with the linker. I have the DL 1000 & only use it for sport & fingering weight yarrns. I do alot of worsted weight yarns on my SR 860 but can't seem to get the linker to work with them. Just too heavy I guess. Sheryl

  3. Phil-to answer your question on my blog, yes, I used all types of machine-Brother, Passap, Knitmaster/Silver Reed. I still have about 14 machines. Like you I got into collecting them! Now tho thru disability, I am not so prolific and have started to get rid.

  4. Mine are all Knitmaster however I really want a Passap next. Your knitting looks very neat and excellent assembly - the yarn you made your new sweater with looks lovely. Where do you source your yarns? Thanks for commenting back :-)

  6. I've just recently made up my mind that I'm definitely getting a linker also. Hand sewing is just too time consuming. Especially when you're knitting long dresses. LOL!
Did you find it on Ebay?

  7. Thanks for comments guys. Monique - yes it was an Ebay bargain actually. They still make these and retail for around £300.00 over here. I got mine for a considerably less amount than that I will say - and it is in great condition, almost brand new!

  8. Hi, I was wondering if you would be able to advise how you adjusted the looper on your linker? Mine isn't dipping under the needle and picking up the yarn as it is supposed to. I don't think it's very complicated to adjust but can't work out how to do it. If you want to email me it's chloefw@hotmail.com
    Thanks
