Reindeer design

Hi everyone

Sorry I have not posted in a while, been busy with other things.

Though I would share this photo. Ive got another commission at the moment, and a reindeer themed sweater is wanted. I cam up with this design, based on one i found for a hand knitting patter but have slightly modified it to give my own twist.

These are just samples so obviously wont be in these colours. The end colours will be a burgundy and a white. I used the elongation lever on the sample to the left, and i think i will use that one towards the bottom of the sweater, then a panel of plain knitting or norweigan fairisle, then the normal pattern but mirror image to the other.

I think I will just be doing the fair isle on the front, and having plain sleeves and back, maybe with a bit of fairisle just near the cuffs - some herringbone perhaps?

Any ways thats all for now, hope you like :-)

Phil

  2. Looks great Phil. What do you have to do to make it knit elongated?

  3. Thanks guys. Maureen - you have same machine as me yes? 700? Where you release the punchcard, theres a red lever next to it that has an S and an L on it. Normally you would have this set to S, but if you move it to L it will progress the punchcard every 2 rows rather than every row, hence the pattern is elongated :-)

  4. Thanks Phil. Yes I have the 700. I always thought that lever had something to do with lace knitting, had no idea it did that. Wow, I wish I had known that when I made the little sweater. Does it work for tuck stitch too? You have helped me so much, so glad I found your blog.

  5. Hi Maureen, yes it works for tuck too, infact anything that uses a punchcard; it just makes the card advance on every second row. :-) Im using it at the moment to make a punched tuck rib overtop and im using card number 1 but using the elongation setting.
